LAM Yu Sum (Sam) was born in 1996 and is currently working towards a BA in Fine Art with Birmingham City University. He is a graduate from HKDI majoring in visual arts and culture in 2018. His current artwork is a study of slime and its material properties. Sam is inspired by daily life, observing details that are often over looked and incorporating them in his artworks. In his previous artworks he used industrial tape to create installations and built sculptures out of water pipes. Both of these works were informed by an investigation into the everyday and how he could manipulate these materials. For example, he scratched the tape with nails and projected light through it to create an atmospheric environment. For Sam, materials are not fixed or solid, but have the potential to be transformed into limitless forms.
